Frequently Asked Questions
Like any massage, particularly when it is targeting the required trigger point/tight or sore muscle, it may be a bit tender, but not painful. We will continually ask throughout how you are feeling and adjust the pressure to suit each individual.
Generally we prefer that you do not train the muscle/muscle group that has been treated at the gym on the same day. This is to allow time for the treatment to have the desired effect. In saying that, we will outline what you can do after the session if you were planning on training afterwards.
With regards to work, again, this will be subject to the problem at hand, and you will collaborate with the physiotherapist as to what work duties would be suitable at that time.
No. While a referral will provide us with a background history of your pre-existing medical history, it is not required to make a booking.
Many people have extremely busy schedules and are very time poor.
For patients who have recently had an operation, and for patients who are less mobile such as the elderly or those with a neurological condition, it can be very difficult or impossible to get into a clinic.
Unlike in many clinics, you have the guarantee of one-on-one time for the entire session, there are no double bookings, and no annoying waiting times.
If you are someone with young children, you avoid the need to find a babysitter for your child whilst having treatment.
We will bring all of the equipment necessary for the session. All we require is space to set up our portable physio bed, and if you have any relevant scans (X-Rays, MRI etc.) please have those handy so we can go over them together.
Wear comfortable clothing. Generally for all leg related and lower back issues we prefer shorts to be worn, but if this is not possible or you do not want to that's totally fine. For all arm or upper body issues a singlet top is preferred. If you have any concerns do not hesitate to contact us or notify the physiotherapist.
Absolutely. For home visits we have a portable HICAPS machine which allows you to claim back your rebate for the session upfront which means you only pay the GAP. Your 'gap' fee for the session varies depending on your level of extras covered by your health-fund. Alternatively, you can pay the amount in full using cash or card, and we will print/email an invoice to you so you can easily claim on the health funds' mobile app or visit your health-fund provider instore.
While we do accept EPC plans from your GP, unfortunately we cannot Bulk Bill the Plans for Physiotherapy at our practice. For each Medicare session, you will only pay a small fee of $40 out of pocket to cover the session. For home visit EPC visits, travel fees apply, please contact us to find out more.
